Is Your Tire Leaking?

Tire Repair in Lawrence, KS

Safe Tires Matter

Your automobile's tires enable the traction with the road that keeps you in control and your car from skidding out of control. They're also responsible for ensuring that your vehicle can roll efficiently. Therefore, safe tires matter. If your tires are improperly inflated or are in poor condition, safety is compromised. You don't, however, have to bear the entire burden of keeping an eye on your tires alone. Lawrence Automotive Diagnostics in Lawrence, Kansas, can tell you how to spot potential leaks, and we're here to guide you through tire repair.

Be Mindful of Leaks

Although it's best to perform preventive maintenance services, including tire inspection, periodically, there are some signs you may notice that could point to a leaking tire. Obviously, if you have a flat tire, the air is gone. However, you may miss other signs if you're not intentional about watching for them. You may notice, for instance, that one tire appears to be slack, not appearing as round and full as the others. Also look for cracks in the rubber. These are often where tiny amounts of air begin to seep out. Beware of embedded nails, screws, and other sharp objects, too. If your vehicle develops a vibration or pulls, those could point to unequal air pressure readings between tires, possibly the result of a leak. The best means of detecting a leak is by regular monitoring of air pressure with a gauge. If one tire's psi reads low each time even after the pressure has been adjusted, it's almost certainly leaking.
